- Prepare a list of names of your wedding party in the exact order they will enter the hall so the band can announce them for you. Last names that may be difficult to pronounce should also be spelled how they sound after the name.
- If you have a special bridal dance song you want played and the band doesn't know it, be sure to bring the song on a CD and deliver it to the band either ahead of time or as soon as you arrive at the hall. The band will be happy to play it for you.
- Think about having a separate bouquet and garter throw for kids under 16 - such as a candy toss. This eliminates the chance of a 25 yr old man having to put a garter on an 8 year old girl.
- Do you want to do a dollar dance? Some think it's tacky, some love it. An alternative is a 50/50 raffle. Let the band know ahead of time which you chose. A Grand March is also fun!
- Hog trough dances are always a hoot for the guests - if not always for the older unmarried sister (or brother) of the bride (or groom). Let us know if you need a trough.
- Be sure the band you hire for your wedding reception has reception experience. Just because a band plays music does not mean they are experienced in wedding reception etiquette. Sawbuck Band has performed for well over 100 receptions and will treat your special day with the utmost care.
- Perform a callback one week before your big day to all organizations involved; church, hall, band, photographer, videographer, caterer, cake decorator, balloon supplier, florist, etc. to be sure everyone is ready for the correct day. We have seen a bride brought to tears because the cake decorator "thought it was on Saturday" not Friday.
- When you finally set that date, the first two calls to make are to the hall and the band. Be sure to plan early so as not to be disappointed.
